What should my friend get?
A bud of mine is starting out, and wants something small(ish) and easy to care for. No Leos or beardies though. Any suggestions?

Ill ensure he gets all the right care info along the way,

Well if he wants a lizard, I would say crested gecko or pictus gecko. If he wants a snake a ball python or a corn snake. Those four are all very good starting reptiles.

vipers are really small. I would get a crested over a viper though.

Crested gecko for a lizard or a carpet python for a snake.
