blue nosy be Question

Hi,

I dont have a cham yet, but I saw a sub-adult blue nosy be female for sale and if after some research I decide I can take care of her I might bring her home. please remember this is tentative right now.

I also keep many lizards already, so I understand the need to be informed about a new pet BEFORE bringing it home.

my questions are a) how do you sex a panther cham? do they have/dont have tarsal spurs like veileds? or should I be looking for somme other indicator.

b) what would a fair price be for a sub-adult female panther of this locality? this is retail, so I would like breeder prices and what you think a fair retail price would be.

I am usually on the "pet stores suck" bandwagon, but there is one here in st catharines that I trust and has knowledgeable staff. even their feeders are healthy. so I am considering buying this animal from this store.

Females are not great to start off with. Males are the best...Females will lay eggs without breeding...But were not sure if its a female. Nosy be chameleon also known as panther chameleons do not have spurs like veilded though. But they are very easy to sex at 3 montsh of age. First thing you might notice is colour. Females have dull colour such as brown orange black and very little blueish green by the eye. Another way of reconizing the sex is that males have a bulge under its tail and hind leg. Males are bigger then females...

Its very hard to find female nosy be pantehr chameleons. Why? cause people perfer males over females. I paid mine for 200 bucks. Also it might not be a 100% nosy be...If you do plan on getting her or him youll need a mesh cage. Once you decide well tell you the care it needs.

I am fully aware of the mesh cage requirements. I also have expereince with lizards that lay eggs if they have been exposed to a male or not.

I am going to really consider this purchase. not sure if a panther is hte thing for me yet. like I said, I have ot research and lurk around in here for a little while before I go for it.

oh one more thing, if I were in the market for a male instead of a female to get started, who could I speak to about acquiring one?
preferrably in Southern Ontario....... isn't there a respected chameleon breeder in Waterdown or just north of Hamilton somewhere? I remember reading something a couple of years ago about her..... I could just be crazy though

young female (6-8 months old)

Young male mosey approx same age

your looking at arroung 200 for a nosy your might find one if your lucky in the 150 area

there is a problem with female panthers being hard to determine local unless u know exacally where it comes from as all females tend to look very similar no matter what there color morph.

females might not be as colorfull as the males but are still cute as hell.

note: i got a sexy male that has been looking for some action he is seeking a cute female nosy wink wink.
