can it be done?

Need some advice. I live in Peru and own a 4.5m long Anaconda (he hangs out in a pool in my back garden) that weighs around 43 kilos. I've had him for 2 years but I'm not really sure how old it is.

The thing is, he's getting too large to handle and I'm worried about him getting aggressive. Anyway, I'd like to release it back into the wild. My main fear is that he's been around humans too long and wouldn't adapt. Should I go for it or donate him to a zoo?

Hi, I would suggest contacting your local zoo and asking of a safe place too release him back into the wild, snakes are not like other animals when released he will not automatically seek out human interaction, and if they will not help you your still no worse off.

Good luck, with him too bad you weren’t here in Canada,. I would love too have him.

It's going to be a wrench letting him go, but with kids around a 30 foot anaconda (if he gets that long) is a dangerous animal to own.

I don't have much in the way of help but I'd love to hear more details!

You say he lives in your pond in a garden? As in an enclosure or he stays there in the pond? Do you feed him or?

Very nice looking snake.

Letting an animal loose in a spot that is NOT the EXACT location where he ws collected from is worse than releasing non-native species. Its a biological no-no. Call a zoo.
