I thought the same thing when I looked at the pics of the afrock, she looks mighty pissed. Seeing a big mouth like that coming at me and I'd be thinking that it was time to go.

Kind of sad that both animals died for no good reason.

Gary D.,

I know it would seem wierd to us.. but MANY people around the world use those animals as food... How is that no good reason?

How is it any differnet from a hunter taking down a deer, or a fisherman taking a trout?

Actually while the origin for captiring Af-rocks in that fashion was for food, now days it is primarily for their hides and to fulfil the demand for bush meat in Africa, and such has never been the case in South America for food. Even if it were you could just look at the guys holding the Conda and you know they didn't kill it for food.

And if you even think of likening bush meat and CITES protected species (reptiles mamals, etc.) and the environmental crisis it has caused to the carefully managed harvesting of North American Game species, you really havent a clue about either situation.

Poor girl was just trying to defend her babies (eggs). Couldn't they find something better to eat? *sniffle*

no you dont, but i dont think they would like a negative comment. If you were to post a picture of you reptile and someone said it sucks. Thats sorta rude. He posted to share it with others

I do agree those pics do suck .. It sucks to see animals get killed for such reasons.. I see nothing wrong with such a comment ..

Amazing shot of the rock striking though ..

You would think after seeing it was a female on eegs that they would leave it alone and go to the next one though ..

Tell that to National Geographic Magazine who originally ran those photos several years ago.
