Snake Cyber Camp lots of fun!

Being a school teacher and a snake keeper I often get asked to do "snake shows". Unless it is directly related to education I always say no because I think snake shows are stressful on animals and I like to keep mine as stress free as possible.
This show however was a little different. It was a snake cyber camp. 15 kids came to our local access center where they took part in a cyber scavenger hunt. Each team was given a list of snake questions that they had to find the answers to on line. Kids learn by doing so it was more meaningful for them to find the facts on line rather than me telling them to them.
After an hour of on line work the kids had a choice of three snakes they could have their picture taken with.

Thw whole snake cyber camp thing is a very neat way for the kids to learn things. Great work and hope that you do more of these camps in your area!

I believe that animals should get out of their cages often and get some handling. It's just healthy, that way.
Stress is relative. We must remember that herps are not really vegetables. We can't just PLANT them inside their cages. They like to explore and move around. And once they get used to the handling, they don't seem that stressed at all...

Handling your herps at home is one thing but packing them up and driving them 20 minutes to a school during the day when they should be sleeping so that 6-13 yr olds can touch and hold them is just a tad different. A snake show and handling at home are very different. Snake shows by nature are stressful there's just now deniying it. The drive alone during the day is enough to stress out some animals never mind all the kids.
