i am finally getting my corn. it is comming on tuesday. over the last week my maximum temp was 89 and minimum was 79. is this alright?

Cool side seems fine, you could probably go a little lower. You'll know by observing if the snake ever spends time there. However 89 might be a bit high for the hot side, 85 is more usual, although if it's a young snake the higher temperatures are sometimes done on purpose for growth. Again, if it avoids the hottest spot all the time, it's likely too hot for the snake.

How are you gauging the temps? You'll want to check right over the hot and cool spots, surface temperatures.
