Taps are absolutly amazing animals...

I cannot believe I have missed out on the T. subcaeruleus a few months ago... was not fast enough to grab them when they were offered to me... damn!

Nice pics

Martin, I'm extremely jealous that you even had a chance at T. subcaeruleus and if you had gotten one I probably would be making a drive to Canada to steal it! Tapinauchenius is my favorite genus by far.

I've got the 3.25" female T. latipes
3" female T. plumipes
5" female T. gigas (breeding her after she molts)
1.5" T. cupreus
1.25" T. purpureus
3 1.25" T. elenae

Good question! I've had several other people ask about them as well, and I never noticed them until I was looking at the pics. I think they're just marks. Some people have said they've seen them on other Tap species as well. I haven't paid much attention to my other Taps and haven't noticed them. Of course, most of mine are still slings.
I'd run my finger over her opithosoma to find out, but every time I touch her enclosure she hides.

Hello Leanne
Thanks for the pics, and may I ask you some questions?

I am new to the world of T's and would like to know what it is about Taps that makes them your favorite?
I am intrigued by their reputation as the fastest tarantula species going, and would love to see this for myself. So far, I am interested in T.purpureus, since it has stunning color as well. Are there any observations you can make about Taps to help me decide which one (if any?)to get?

I'd ask Tarcan, but he adores each and every tarantula for whatever qualities it might have. He'd be hard-pressed to say any of them had any shortcomings...(hahahaha, just teasing you, Martin...you know I admire that about you!)

Wow... she looks really interesting! Very pretty..

Sounds like you've got quite an interesting collection there too. Got any other pics? I'd be interested to see 'em!
