Stupid question-heat tape
Just a quickie. If you buy a huge roll of heat tape, can you cut it to the length you need or do you have to buy it the length you need? I figure you can just cut it, but better to double check. Also, do you have to cut it in 'foot' bits, or can you cut it in say one and a half feet? I'm guessing you have to do it by foot because there appears to be a division in the heat part of it every foot?
Thanks.

You can cut it in any length you need. This doesn't effect the watts per foot. This is the beauty of flexwatt. You can even splice extra length on if you find you need more or add an extra section to a rack. I've done so several times.
Buying a huge roll is a good idea. I always import it in 100 foot rolls. It doesn't go bad, and lasts forever

Depends on the size of the tape; 11" you can only cut on the lines, (every 12.5") but with 3" or 4" you can cut it wherever your little heart desires.

for people living in the states, where do they get it? Can they just go to a lowe's or homedepot? I have a friend who goes to school in the US and is coming home this week, i'd like to get him to bring some back for me. Let me know!
