HEating new cage

My new snake enclosure is nearly finished, but I was wondering if a UTH would be effective through 5/8" of plywood. Also, would it still be effective if I put a ceramic tile floor on top of the plywood or would this be too much flooring to heat through? I just thought that the ceramic tile may make cleanup easier

Thanks again

I'm sure it would heat through the wood they get pretty hot. You might to get a dimmer for it and you also may want to attach the heat pad to the ceramic tile. This way if you change enclosures you dont have to buy a new heat pad and it was easier to clean and move around without heat pad attached.

Country:
Heat tape and most UTH definitely heat through 5/8" wood, and as mentioned already, still need to be controlled because they will reach dangerously hot levels for most animals.
Ceramic tile will make your enclosure super heavy. The tiles themselves will be easy to maintain, however you will likely get build up in the grout. I don't know how well the heat will be able to get through the wood and plywood. You shouldn't have any problems cleaning your enclosure as long as you use a smooth wood and seal it well

I wouldn't attach the UTH to a ceramic tile...or anything. you don't have to use the sticky side.
Just make sure your enclosure is about 1/2-1 inch off the ground for air flow, use a rheostat or lamp dimmer.
I wouldn't use tile or anything for snakes. I would use something like reptile carpet, or aspen shavings (since it is for corns and they do like to burrow).
