i dont know anything about scorpions but i came acroos this so called "useless fact" from this website
http://www.wernersplace.com/uselessfacts.htm

55. If one places a tiny amount of liquor on a scorpion, it will instantly go mad and sting itself to death.

It could definitely sting through its own exoskeleton.

That being said, this myth, in its various forms, is just that -- a myth. There is one that if you surround a scorpion by fire it will sting itself to death rather than be burned. Anyhow, it is all nonsense.

I started to go through that whole site. I was going to comment on all the ones I knew to be false, but about half of them are like that and the other half are suspect but I don't know for sure one way or the other. There are only a couple that actually sound plausable to me.

Cheers,
Dave

I dont think a scorpion could sting through its own exoskeleton, but if it were to sting itself it would sting either its soft side, or the skin in between the plates on its back.

Thanks,
Ben
