paint and silicone

Hey all I am building a cage and have used clear silicone and 100 percent acrylic paint. I was wondering if this is appropriate. I know the silicone is alright I was just wondering about the paint.
Any info would be appreciated thanks

yes, acrylic is fine once it has thorougly dried.

You might want to put your UTH or some kind of heat on it to make sure that it does not off gass. The only way the silicone is ok is if it is aquarium sealant.........(thats only what I was told, I may be wrong!)

I'll put the heat lamp on it. I wont be using it for some time anyway. It'll have lots of time to cure. Actually its almost finished I'll post a pic tonight.
Oh yeah the silicone says right on it great for fixing aquariums. They sell the stuff at super pet for like 13.99 a tube but if you go to canadian tire its like 4 bucks.

Marine enamel is wicked type paint to use in enclosures as it is waterproff & very durable for scrubbing etc. Mark I.

Sapphire - "Aquarium Silicone" is nothing more than 100% pure rubber silicone with a fancy name that allows it to be sold for 5 times the price. Besides, just about any silicone can be used in enclosures. It doesn't offgas once it's cured.

Bingo, make sure it says 100% silicone and you're good to go

I use it in my aquariums all the time and it's only about 2 bucks/tube
