Iguana Owners?
How many of you do we have here?
This is my not so little lady:
"Larry" stayed with a rescue family for about a yr...they nourished her with love, proper food, and uv. Put her up for adoption in Aug. She came to my home Sept. 28. She is a sweety. And only attempts to bite when I take her to the vet LOL.
Her enclosure is a closet in my spare room. Here's a couple pics:

Cute little girl! I have one ig... love her to death, but I will never have another. I've had her since I was 4 years old. She's 19 years old
LOL they all love the vet visits, eh? Some of my kids get quite grumpy whenever they are in

Totally in agreement with Linds here. I LOVE my Roxy to bits but I will never ever have another iguana.
Roxy (female but looks male eh?) 6 years old or so...5 feet...big baby! We adopted her a few years ago.

My roomates also adopted an iguana about a year ago. It's a little male named Jub Jub. He lives on another floor of our house and doesn't interact with Roxy. Jub Jub has a SERIOUS attitude problem and has no problem biting, hissing, whipping etc. But we love him.

Both of these brats are total pigs and also both are quite lazy when we aren't forcing them to move. LOL.

Wow, beautiful iggy pics. I hope Larry chunks out a bit. She is awfully scrawny right now.
Is there a reason you both will never have another iggy? Just curious.
I didn't think iggy's lived that long (19yrs) that is amazing.

Just got my ig a few days ago Here is my Paco
Never thought I'd end up with an ig in a hundred years! But when I saw Paco for the first time and found out he was in need of a good home I started thinking about it. Couldn't keep him off my mind for a couple of weeks!!!
Gotta love that funny face!

Bichiraddict I will never have another iguana because the workload, while worth it, is heavy.
I never realized it until I had my own iguana, its impossible to realize what it takes sometimes until you own one. Some people have it easier but Roxy is a pain LOL. She eats huge amounts of food (I have one of those iguana that instead of being a picky eater, eats EVERYTHING and has a double helping!) and the cleaning takes quite awhile. They are just more husbandry than I bargained for. But I do love Roxy to death.

Marisa: I hear ya. It is definately one of the higher maintenence animals. I wish we could half swapp, my Larry has NO appetite. Had the little bugger weighed and she only weighs 3.3lbs....heck, my one beardie weighs 1.05lbs. And Larry is ummm quite a bit bigger (beardie 19", Larry 42").
Pixie: Paco is adorable. Who could resist such a cutie. Congrats, and I hope you both enjoy each other

I recently lost both of my iguanas to kidney disease and a staph infection and am totally devastated. I actually miss the workload and will probably take in a rescue iguana at some point, once I have finished grieving for Amazon and Gizmo. I'm not the type of person that can just rush in and get another pet, I tend to resent the new animal for not being the one I just lost. But eventually I am sure I will happen across an iguana that needs a good home and I will fall in love with being an ig slave once again.
