Is it me or just...
I will be owning a redtail boa sometime this week. The colors and patterns on them are astonishing. When i went to a local pet store a while back when I bought my ball python, the owner let me see her redtail which was incredible. My girlfriend finally let me get another snake lol, sounds funny but she tells me I am obsessed but that cannot be. There are sooooo many people out there with way more snakes than just 1 ball python, and (soon) 1 redtail boa. Anyways, i talked her into letting me have it, as well as her seeing some pictures of them on this very site. She said they are beautiful and that all she asks of me is to make their cages very appealing to our guests. Which I will sink my last dollar into my python's well being, I would do the same for any snake I care for. My python knows when I get home from work 3:30am (or maybe it's just in his nature at this time of morning) I take a look into his cage and he see's me moving around him and he will almost like clockwork come out and lay against the cage to let me see him. When it is time for me to lay down I swear he goes back into his hide spot. That's very relaxing to me especially after a hard days work, and I would trade nothing for him. Hope my upcoming redtail will learn to bond with me the same. Thanks alot for all the information on breeders, suggestions.. you all have been a great help. This forum RULES.

Great to hear you are getting a BCI (or is it a BCC?) They are AMAZING, rewarding snakes, and I just love working with them! They are very mellow, and very cool.
However, I don't think the snake is going to be bonding with you anytime soon. Yes it may recognize your patterns and scents, but snakes likely don't feel an emotional bond with a human. But what can ya do!
GL with your new snake, and be sure to post pics!
And no, your GF does not know the meaning of obsessed :P

Hehehe, Sorry you had to break my heart about snakes not being bondable to humans... I guess it was just a mental thing. I cannot wait until i get my redtail, I already bought him/her a cage and the complete setup, as well as a lovely place in my home for him/her.

Aw sorry about that But hey, it isn't proven, and some say it happens. Time will tell I suppose .
Awesome! Are you getting a baby? Adult? Male? Female? BCI? BCC?

And while we were there i even talked him into getting another leo gecko!! I love it when a plan comes together! good luck w/ your redtail!

Congrats on your new redtail, I know that feeling of the arrival of a new baby. Obsessed that would be me, I have currently 24 snakes, 2 Iguana's, 1 water dragon, and 4 beardies, and that's just the herps! I'm obsessed and I think it's cool. You'll see your gonna eventually get more and more snakes your girlfriend will just have to get used to it, my husband did

Obssessed???? HA! Until you hit 20 herps, you can't even call yourself a collector. At 10-19 herps, you're an enthusiast. At less than 10, you are only vaguely aware of some scaly things living in your house.
RedDragon and I are enthusiasts, in case you're wondering.

Congratulations on talking your G/f into letting you have a Boa. I bought my Boa last week. He's great. You'll love 'em. I only started my collection 9wks ago. I only wanted the one, now we got 5 snakes.
I Guess that makes our house "Vaguely Reptilian"

Invictus, Morti and I have 46 snakes plus the nile monitor and the bearded dragon. What does that make us?
gloss0rz: Snakes don't bond, but they do seem to like certain people (kind of like birds). We have 2 snakes here that used to bite the heck out of their previous keepers but has yet to strike at Morti.
