feeding time

I just gave my BP a mouse, and she picked it up by the tail! Is that normal??? She also seems to like to eat them rear end first.....???? But will eat a small rat head first?

if your feeding your snake f/t food try holding the food buy it's rear, so that the head is pointing at your snake. Cause if my snakes grab the prey by the butt then it seems that they will eat it butt first, But when they grab it head first then thats how mine will eat it head first. It's worth a try, I hate to see mine eat rear first it seems like it takes them longer to get it down, and like it's a bigger struggle.

Ya, I do that. Use tongs and grab it by the tail. I've heard story's of the snake striking and actually going through the hole in the tongs and getting stuck! I still grab the mouse by the tail though because she has NEVER struck above the mouse. She's actually kind of lazy about it and prefers that I push the mouse against her nose....then she decides to strike around floor level.
