Odd crossbreeding?

Well today I found my male brown anole and female green breeding. Do you think this normal? Will she produce some wierd cross eggs?

Hmmm... I am not too familiar with anoles, but I assume those are two different species, not jsut colours... Ok, this is what I am understanding:
If they do mate, they are obviously recognizing each other as the same species, which would mean they are very similar species.
If that is right, I find 2 possible outcomes.
1. Although they are very similar, and they mated, the species were still too different, and the female wasn't impregnated
2. Because they are so similar, the sperm WAS recognized, and the female was impregnated, although the young will probably have more of a chance of deformities, and probably won't be as healthy when born.
Anyone else?

If I am not mistaken the two you are talking about are the same species...... Some are more brown and some are more green....... And just for the record, A cross does not have any more complications than pure blood species....... Actually you will find more deformities in reptiles that are inbred for color pattern and albino or any of those other color morphs........... All of my crosses are healthy and are as well formed as my pure bloods.......

Nope they are different species Greg. Brown anoles have nice patterns, green anoles are just lime green, and sometimes brown.

Regardless if you do produce babies I am sure they will be fine.....

Are you suer they are not both Anolis carolinensis ? I know there are Bahama Anoles, and they look way way different than the common green ones. I don't think they can interbreed (fertile eggs) but it would be neat to see if they do.

Anoles are way underrated. They are one of the funnest lizards to sit and watch for hours on end.

I totally agree Jeff. People think lowly of them due to their small retail value. Really they are some of the smartest lizards I have ever seen, crawling upside-down along a log and droping right on a cricket and then running back of the glass with their food. I am sure the one female is a regular green anole ( Anolis carolinensis ) and the other one is a male Brown anole ( Anolis sagrei ). Hopefully I can get some fertile eggs, it would be awsome to see what comes out!

Here in FL. we have the native green (anolis carolinensis) and the alien brown (anolis sagrei) living together. In fact the brown has displaced the green in many areas. I know of no interbreeding of the 2 though, and have often wondered why. If you do produce them,please don't bring any down here. As far as I know they aren't crossing in the wild. I dunno.

I know the bahaman crosses with the green and brown. And i think we had one green and brown cross at school. So it is possible.

My male green anole mated with my female brown anole several times. They produced fertile eggs, but I was only 9 and had no idea how to incubate them. Good luck! And post pics of the offspring if they hatch!
