need help

i live in the country in northern iowa and i am surrounded by 2 creeks and there are NO snakes and NO frogs.can someone tell me where to look pls?i have gone herping a lot and i havent seen anything so far.

try looking in large bushes or half submerged trees, i caught a 4 ft water snake in a huge thorn bush last week. i also have luck with pieces of wood, cut sections, planks, anything a snake or salamander could crawl under i would check. just have patience sooner or later you will find them, or they will find you, ihave caught many garters in unexpected places!
