Hognose

My third new baby is as of yet un-named. He is cute as hell and hisses and blows like he is a Pygmie Rattler. He is a Western Hognose. Can anyone suggest a cool name?

great lookin snakes!!

I heard Mangrove snakes have nasty tempers is it true?

as for a name for you hognose try Maeve (Ma-eve) It means Passionate and intoxicating.

The first snake I ever owned is named maeve because of the passion she sparked in me for snakes and her intoxicating beauty.

good luck with you new babies!
Grace

Grace,
I have seen no signs of aggression at all. Both are tame, almost too tame. I have handled both and they seem not to care. Hopefully they will stay that way!

How much did it cost you to get them from Indonesia?
I hope they work out for you.

Since the western hog acts like a rattler, I'd give him a rattleresque name like Mojave.

I think you should name him Mojave since he acts like a rattler.

Burmies,
I purchased them from triple L (www.lllreptile.com) for $59.00 per. They are low priced because they are mildly venomous and most folks shy away from "warm" snakes. So far, they are cool as can be. I am going to have to work on their habitat though. I have several brances for them to play on, but they aren't climbing much.
