Ackie Monitor: tail rot?

Hi! Can anyone tell me if this is tail rot before I go to the vet? Thanks!

I can't quite tell but it looks like there was some stuck shed toward the end of the tail that restricted blood flow and caused the tissue to die. Sometimes that will require a vet visit, sometimes it won't.

Ackies typically take advantage of humid burrows to avoid dehydration. Is your substrate at least 12" deep so the monitor can burrow? Ackies also rely on basking spots with surface temperatures in the neighborhood of 130 F to support their immune systems; if the hot spot is adequate then the monitor's immune system should take care of minor infections.

Hi, I can only see the stuck shed, no sign of other problems, you obviously have the animal to hand, is there any "damage" other than the shedding issue?
You need to give details of how you`re keeping the monitor plus a photo of the whole enclosure including top view.
Have you posted the photo in one of the Facebook monitor groups recently, if yes, I might already have responded?

Thanks! The monitor is in a 36 x 18 x 24 exo terra, sand/eco earth substrate. 150w basking bulb and mercury vapor bulb. It DOES have a burn scar on its back from before I got him (fully healed).
