Thank you for all the input. I have identified it as a North Western Garter snake. I understand (now) that wild caught snakes are frowned upon. As a newb. I do have some questions. Would any of us have snakes without them ever being "field caught"? As I looked to buy snakes on line, found several types of garter snakes for sale that were "field caught", quite common for the species. This is a baby. I have two separate tanks and spaces for these snakes. The snake eating well, active and content. Will take to the vet for proper vacs and deworming if needed. Again I understand the issue. Not trying to offend. Corn snake is amazing, eating great and lovely.
