Took the snake out in the yard

Was 60° in January, and figuring I won't get better than that for a while took my bairds outside. Thought to reintroduce you guys to him.

Put him in the tree for the first time. Took a lot of trust on my part. At first he wanted no part in it and immediately climbed down...

...he looked around...

...and went straight back to the tree after finding out how wet it was.

Really cool, maybe I'll trust my snakes to go outside once it gets warmer for me.

How far did you let it go up before you said, "Whoa, that's far enough," and you grabbed it?

About six feet. It was as high as I could reach, but he wasn't moving fast enough to where I was concerned.

Re: Took the snake out in the yard

I love seeing snakes outside but I don't take mine out. Maybe I will when they're bigger. Right now I'm paranoid some hawk will come along and swoop them up.

I take mine out when I can. A lot of trust and baby steps went into this one, as I was a little freaked out that I'd have to climb up after him but he did great! Hawks I worry about too, but Ive never had a problem. I stand directly over him when he's on the ground and just keep my eye out. Got a lot of owls, not very many hawks though.

60 is a bit low of a temp depending on what your inside temp is. Be careful. Otherwise he's looking phenomenal. Really carrying the lines which I find to be quite appealing in this species the more I see different examples.
