Temp/humidity gauges and thermostats?

I have some basic needle gauges and thermostats from the local pet shop but am wanting a more precise measurement. What probes and thermostats are you all using that you can recommend?

Re: Temp/humidity gauges and thermostats?

I love my Herpstat thermostats. They allow me to maintain the temperatures within 1/10th a degree with different day and night time temperatures if you want to use that feature. I use RHP from ProProducts which are also excellent for maintaining constant temperatures.

Eight Herpstats here...multiple 2/4/6-port models made by Spyder Robotics. They have a new firmware and new stainless probes that provide better control. I just got a 4-port model with the stainless probes and I like the new interface/firmware.

I use Zilla thermostats and have no complaints.

I have used both electronic and dial type gauges over the years with neither proving to me one is more accurate than the other. I've had lemons of both types. I just check them against a certified Fluke meter from time to time.

Re: Temp/humidity gauges and thermostats?

For the two Zilla thermostats that I own, I find that both have moderate temperature swings, both high and low, and I only use them in emergencies or when I add a new cage and I don't have a port available on my Herpstats.

Guess my snakes have been in a constant state of emergency for a very very long time. They don't seem to mind, I just won't tell them.

Re: Temp/humidity gauges and thermostats?

I currently have these in all 3 of mine and the little buddies all seem OK.

I figure I should start with better measurement tools to see how my thermostats are doing before upgrading. Currently they have these little cheapies and I am just not thrilled with them. Obviously this is just for my benefit to be sure the stats are keeping them in range. I would rather have a specific readout for temp and humidity.
