mealworms

the superpet in my city rarely has mealworms in stock, so im going to start a colony of my own and hopefully supply the store if i can manage.

what im wondering is where can i get a bunch of mealworms to start this colony? any suppliers close to burlington ontario?

also, whats the best mealworm substrate? oats or bran?
thanks

Not from Canada. I only deal with companies in the US, as it is too costly to get anything shipped over the border.

I keep my mealies and supers in a gutload substrate of:

rolled oats
wheat germ
white bran
red bran
fish food flakes
baby cereal (pablum)
rye flakes
bottom of the bag of rat chow
12 grain mix

Variety is best, after all, you are what you eat
