Is this safe to use as an all in one stain/sealer for an enclosure

Behr solid color waterproofing wood stain? It says it is for decks, fences and siding. It is 100% acrylic self priming and mildew resistant. Thanks in advance for any advice or comments.

And if I was unclear it would be used on the inside of my snake enclosure.

Stain is fine to use but I would recommend using a wood sealer on top of it. I usually have my doubts about the "water proofing" capabilities of stains and you wouldn't want stain leeching out later. With porous woods like pine they usually drink up stain so it's generally not a problem. But when dealing with wood and moisture I always use a sealer. If you choose to use it by itself then I'd let the wood/enclosure air out for 72 hours. All the best, and show us how it comes out!

I used something simmilar for my crestie tank and spray it down all the time. I used it in expanding foam. Because it was foam and not wood though, I can't speak for the wood application. I also made sure to let mine air out for 2 weeks. Might have been overkill, but I'd rather do that, then end up sick or sticky geckos.

The sealent and stain Inused has been going strong for about 4.5 years now. =)

Some products that contain mildew inhibitors have chemicals that can leech into their surroundings and possibly do some harm to a captive. I would use a separate sealant as Humble mentioned, just to be safe.

Thanks for the advice... the mildew resistant wording was part of what worried me. My secondary plan is to use a white paint with a polycryllic sealer. It will take a bit longer because i have to wait for the multiple paint coats to dry before sealing it, but I would rather be safe then sorry with my snakes.
