Albino Boa BCC or BCI

I just got him a few days ago I was wondering what strain and if he is a bcc or bci. I think he is a bci kahl strain albino. His saddle count from head to vent is 22 and no peaks. I have yet to count scales waiting on shed. feedback greatly appreciated.

Re: Albino Boa BCC or BCI

Looks mostly bci. Without lineage info, he could be a mix of both, or pure. So I would say unknown bci type.

That's is what I figured. Thanks. Would you say he is the kahl strain of albino. His price was why I would assume that.

Looks BCI to me, but you will have better luck asking the person you purchased him from. Either way, nice looking boa!

He has a great attitude. He is my first boa. I had ball pythons from pet sitting a friends but they are kind of simple minded to me. They don't show the awareness of their surroundings like boas.

Re: Albino Boa BCC or BCI

The differences between bcc and bci are overall size of the snake bcc are larger, the saddles on the snake will have peaks but not always, the head shape overall is less prominent around the jaw, and if your dealing with normal red tails the tails will keep their deep red color unlike most bci which their color fades to a brownish red as they age. A bci will have a higher saddle count and some have a cross on the head instead of a straight line from nose to spine. But all this varies depending on lineage of snake. There is mixtures of all these features in different snakes.

Re: Albino Boa BCC or BCI

Albino is a BCI-based morph. So to be albino it must be at least part BCI. I hear there's an albino morph for BCC, but there's little to no info on it and if there is it's extremely rare, so chances are it's BCI.

Strain is difficult to tell just looking at the snake, you'd have to breed it with a snake of a known albino strain to find out for sure, or find the breeder and ask them.
