Best Venomous Display Snake
I have an EDB as my display animal in an 8 ft long 3 ft high 3 ft deep glass cage. What do you think would be a great venomous display animal?

Solid gold eyelash viper or Trimeresurus mangshanensis. I love EDB's too! It's hard not to look at and adult EDB and say DAMN!!!!

Re: Best Venomous Display Snake
While I agree with Primal Rage about the solid gold eyelash viper, I would also like to toss in the Ethiopian Mountain Adder (Bitis Parviocula) as a particularly beautiful venomous snake. Good luck finding one though and if you did happen to get bitten, I suspect finding anti-venom would be a real challenge

Great ideas! That bitis parv is an amazing snake! You can never go wrong with a golden eyelash viper either. As for anti venom...yeah that would be a challenge.

Re: Best Venomous Display Snake
Being in Atlanta my guess is you wouldn't have trouble at all finding the anti-venom. They have Ethiopian Mountain Adder on display at the zoo. Finding one to buy may be tough.

Re: Best Venomous Display Snake
Really? That's a awesome looking Carpet. I figured the forum wouldn't support a pic like that on the cover page after the arguments I've seen., but I haven't seen a carpet like that and looks like fangs on my iphone. I'm so dumb.

Re: Best Venomous Display Snake
For large vipers my favorite would be the rhinoceros viper Bitis nasicornis.
But nothing tops a large mamba in a large enclosure
Black Mamba Dendroaspis polylepis
Green Mambas
Dendroaspis angusticeps
Dendroaspis jamesoni
Dendroaspis viridis

Re: Best Venomous Display Snake
In all honesty, I think every venomous snake is a great display snake. Whenever I see one, I'm just amazed by the power it has in one bite.

Re: Best Venomous Display Snake
Wagler's vipers seem very colorful, too. I think I would get a bush viper. Those can look soo cool!
