How Much To Feed A Cal King
My Albino is settled in now. Fed her a F/T pinkie today and she readily accepted it. She was kinda pissed after the feeding. She's aggressive in her feed box, which doesn't concern me, but I think she wanted another pinkie. She's about 12-15" long.

Re: How Much To Feed A Cal King
Congrats on the successful feed Derek. Kings can be pretty aggressive feeders. Yours was probably still a little hungry. Looking at her I would think she can handle 2 pinks or maybe even a fuzzy. As long as the prey item is about 1-1.5x the widest part of the snake you should be ok. I usually feed my young colubrids 10-15% of their body weight every 5-7 days. I've gotten good healthy growth rates with this method.

Re: How Much To Feed A Cal King
She gobbled up 2 pinkies f/t tonight like it was nothing. She really went after the 2nd one with a nice strike too! I'm going to try a fuzzy next week.
She had her first shed this week too! Which was nice. That could have been why she was pissy last week, but I never noticed her eyes glazed over. She's an Albino so not sure if they show as much glaze?

It's hard for me to tell when my albino garter is in shed too. Sometimes I can just barely tell. If she is off and hiding, that generally tells me she is in shed.

Re: How Much To Feed A Cal King
Good news Derek! Your king is eating and shedding well. That means you're doing something right ![Smilie](http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif) . I'm pretty sure she'll smash those fuzzys too. It is sometimes hard to tell when the albino snakes are prepping to shed. They look slightly more dull/opaque than normal. Post more pics when you can. Be well.

I'll get some more pics in a couple days when she's moving around. She was so cool and gentle and calm tonight. She's so awesome.

The only time I can get mine to stay still long enough for me to take any pictures is a couple of days after they've eaten

Re: How Much To Feed A Cal King
Good thread. I thought I'd add here that my cali won't take fuzzys but will pound pinkies. He should be the right size to transition, but he gets defensive and won't eat them.

Re: How Much To Feed A Cal King
I moved her to a F/T Fuzzy today. Took her a little while to get it down, but she did. The pinkies she just goes up and gobbles them down. She checked out the fuzzy and attacked the hell out of it.

Re: How Much To Feed A Cal King
That looks like a great size for her Derek. How much and how often do you feed her?

Re: How Much To Feed A Cal King
She's at my office right now and I've been feeding her every Friday afternoon so she can be left alone over the weekend. I had been feeding her 2 pinkies the last 2 weeks.
