help green iguana!!!!

I have a baby green iguana n a 40 gallon tank it recently stopped eating ,started getting dark spots on joints have switch from the 40 to a 10 how can I get to start eating again.

And list a quick run down of your husbandry for us- basking temperature cool side temperature, if UVB is offered etc.

I'm working on the picture I am using ultra v light I feed a mix of squash,peaches,and cucumber.basking is 90 cooling temp is75

Squash is a good staple veggie, peaches should only be fed every now and then, cucumbers aren't very nutritious and also should only be fed occasionally. I would recommend switching to a mix of collard greens, mustard greens, turnip greens and dandelion greens, and the squash is fine too. Did he stop eating before or after you switched him to the 10 gallon?

Like Snoopy said, dark leafy greens (collards, mustards, kale, romaine lettuce, turnips) should be the bulk of the diet, approximately 60%.

Other vegetables, such as zucchini (NOT cucumber), squash, carrots should supplement this: approx 25-30% ish.

Fruits, such as grapes, mangos, peaches, bananas, apples. Avoid citris fruits and avocados. Approx 10% or less of diet.

You can supplement the remaining 10-5%> or so with commercial iguana diet, but don't rely it.

My personal recommendation is to take the iguana for routine handling sessions outside. They need access to regular sunshine.

Also, I suggest getting started on a custom cage RIGHT NOW! Iguanas grow fast and there is no glass tank suitable for an adult iguana, period. You need something the size of a small bathroom, and depending on where you live, you may want to consider something on wheels you can take outside periodically during warm weather.

This, especially. You'll need an enclosure that's at least 6Lx3Wx6H for an adult iguana, and I too was wondering how you're achieving that much of a temperature gradient in such a small tank. Also, how are you measuring your temps?

If he stopped eating before you switched him to the 10 gallon, it could be because he didn't have enough cover. If he stopped eating after you switched him to the 10 gallon, then the switch itself could be what caused it. Without seeing pics of the black spots and your set-up, its nearly impossible to say what it is.

As said, the diet needs modification, and we really won't be able to help too much without pictures. Why did you switch him from a 40 gallon to a 10 gallon? It's almost impossible to maintain proper temperatures in such a small tank.
