Looking to decorate
So I was thinking of some ideas to decorate my snake cages a little better, and I remembered that hobby places have lots of fake plants for sale, that are rather cheap, and they may even have something I can use for a perch. My question is, is there anything to stay away from? I was thinking about picking up some plastic plants that blend in, and some sticks that would be set up for my boa to climb on. Just want to make sure there's not something that is regularly used in these things that can harm my snakes. Also if I need to use glue on any of them, is a hot glue gun ok to use, as long as I let it air out overnight?

Re: Looking to decorate
I use plastic plants in my cages and it not only really "dressed-up" the cages; the snakes also love them as places to hang out. You might try looking you local Goodwill stores as well as I've picked up a lot of them there for a fraction of the cost at even Hobby Lobby. Just a thought...

Re: Looking to decorate
Thanks! I was going to hit up Goodwill, savers, and then joanns if all else fails. Either way I know it'll be a lot cheaper than from a retile site or pet store

Re: Looking to decorate
The sky is the limit with decorating, anything that you think looks good just throw it in there ( reptile safe of course )

Re: Looking to decorate
Idk about that JP, I can be very vain when it come to my reptile cages, but then I'd never be able to see my snakes!

And they would love that having that much hiding space, it's about them, not you

Re: Looking to decorate
Agreed, and that's probably how it'll end, pics will be posted Sunday after my Boa has been moved to her new cage and newly decorated!

Re: Looking to decorate
I use hobby stores for all my enclosures. I try to stay away from plants that use fabric instead of plastic. Not harmful, just a pain to clean.

Re: Looking to decorate
I agree, just plastic plants. I got a whole basket of fake leaves on vines for 1.99$ at Goodwill, and I have way more than I'll need even in bigger enclosures. Best of luck, can't wait for pics
