Snake ID?

About six feet long, wasn't aggressive, smaller than my wrist. We're in Austin, Tx.

Re: Snake ID?

Thanks! That's what we figured. He was in the middle of the road so we shoo'd him into the grass. He looked very healthy and was the largest rat snake I've ever seen. He was minimum six feet long, maybe seven. I didn't know they got that big!

Re: Snake ID?

Yep, the only new world rat snake that gets significantly larger than Texas Rats is Black Rats. They have been known to exceed eight feet. Most new world rats max out around six and a half to seven feet.
