What kind of snake? In northern SC.

Parents found this baby snake in the yard. Any clue what it might be?

Dekay's Brown Snake. Also, not a baby. They're usually less than a foot long as adults.

Yep, Dekay's. Unless you're in Texas, then it's a Texas Brown Snake. Because in Texas we name everything after Texas. It is absolutely harmless Unless you happen to be an insect.

Not sure if it's just the way the twigs are or did this little guy get hit with a weed Wacker or something?
