Gargoyle Mouth Mucus

I'm sorry if it's incorrect to post about Gargs here, but I figured they are similar enough I would find help here quicker. I went to feed my 1.5 year old Gargoyle tonight and noticed he had mucus around his mouth. I opened it with a q-tip and a very thick, clear mucus began coming out. Quite a large amount for such a little guy. After I cleaned it all out he seemed to be more comfortable and was actually able to get his tongue out of his mouth, but his breathing is still labored. Anyone have any ideas as to what this is? URI? Due to the late hour we obviously won't be going anywhere tonight, but I am most likely going to make a vet appointment for tomorrow if possible. Any ways for me to make him more comfortable?
