last questions

Alright just a few more questions, I'm sorry!:P
1. Would a heat mat be more cost efficient than a CHE bulb?
2. Are my temps correct? Cool side: 76-79 F hot side: 83-85 F basking spot 88-90 F. I still feel like it may be too cold.
Again I'm sorry i just don't wanna mess anything up. If a heat mat is more cost efficient, well pick one up before we pick up the snake. Thanks so much

Re: last questions

Heat mats use a lot less electricity.

Re: last questions

Carpets perch a lot, personally i would use a che to give a decent hotspot on a perch as well as heating the rest of the viv.

I porvided a 92-95f hotspot with a 75f cool end for my jungle.

Re: last questions

I'd look into a radiant heat panel.

Re: last questions

Depends on your enclosure. For a more arboreal setup I would go either a CHE or an RHP. Be sure to read the snake as she will tell you what she prefers. If you find she is spending more time on the ground see what temp she's at and adjust accordingly. She may spend a lot of time on the ground or none.

It has 3 hides and so far I just have one branch/perch but I'm going to get more in there. Ill look into a RHP for sure

It's for a carpet so it should be based on normal carpet husbandry which is to perch and climb. RHP's are the best thing going for carpets imho. I second looking into one.

Re: last questions

I use a UTH for all my carpets. I have a perch above it and they will spend 90% of their time on the perch at the cool end. Once in a blue moon will they get on the perch above the heat. After eating they will always lay right on it for a couple days. If done right they can work no problem but it does depend on how tall the cage is.
