I give then a large water bowl and most of the time they don't use it. They do like to make a mess of their enclosure and they keep the substrate wet.

Re: Aquatic snakes

I remember a user a month or two ago was talking about getting a elephant trunk snake I believe it was called. Very pretty snake, I don't know how well someone could care for a snake that size that is basically 100% pure water living snake.

Re: Aquatic snakes

I keep a plain bellied watersnake, a banded watersnake, and a blue sided ribbon snake. They all like a big water bowl, but dry floor. My banded sometimes turns the floor into a puddle, but after adopting my plain bellied watersnake from a guy who kept it in an aquarium*... I am extremely against constantly moist enclosures, so I always dry it up for her.

*The perpetually wet environment gave it blisters, layers and layers of shed retention, RI, cracked and bleeding scales, rot, ugh it was terrible. Where it ought be black, it was yellow with pus.
