Oh siblings- feeding question
I have recently started my first year in college; since I am no longer home often enough to feed my two corn snakes weekly, I put their feeding in the control of my younger brother.
Well for some reason he was unable to feed them today, so he handed the task over to my sister. Unfortunately, he forgot to show her how to feed them. I just got a call from my sister double checking that it was ok to feed them frozen frozen mice (no dethaw). I told her of course not, but it was too late as one of the two snakes had already started eating.
This is probably bad right? What will happen? What should I do?

Make sure your heat is up and hope it doesn't throw it up.

Re: Oh siblings- feeding question
If that snake actually ate a frozen mouse it is probably as good as dead.

Alright, thank you. Heat is up so I'm hoping for the best.

Re: Oh siblings- feeding question
I responded to your last line. I have a hard time believing that a snake woyld eat a frozen rat.

Re: Oh siblings- feeding question
I'm also having a hard time believing the rat was frozen solid.

Re: Oh siblings- feeding question
I've wondered if anyone's ever done that before. Are the snakes ok? I wouldn't think it'd kill them.

Think it through. An ecotherm has an ice cube sitting in its stomach.

Corn snakes are pretty hardy snakes, I'd imagine the snakes temperature would drop a few degrees, depending on the size of snake and the size of the mouse, but would that be enough to kill it?

Re: Oh siblings- feeding question
I think a snake would go into thermal shock if it swallowed a frozen mouse.

Re: Oh siblings- feeding question
What kind of advice are we supposed to give? Damage is done. If it ate it, it will either regurge it and maybe die, keep it down and maybe die or it could spit it out
I'm really not sure what we can tell them...
