What are the benefits of night drops? I only ask because I don't really do this and if this will keep my snakes happier and healthier I can make the adjustment.

As far as I know, there are none. But I like to give them a period during the day where they can access cooler temperatures, just like they do in the wild.

I adjust their timer (lights and heat are on it) every few days to pretty much match the natural sunup/sundown unless I'm trying to force simulate a different season. For snakes that I don't want brumate I keep the day length at least 14 hours

Well that's why you have only the uth on 1/3 of the side so they have proper cool temps and hot tenps

My Uth is only 1/3 of the enclosure. During the day the cool side is usually around 79f for most of my snakes, with a night drop I can provide them 75f, and for snakes with cooler temp requirements(my russian rat) it's more important. I just like to give them an opportunity to access cooler temps than they would have access to if I left the heat on 24/7. Also I have noticed that my nocturnal snakes are much more active at night with a night drop. Before this they would hide from the heat. Now I actually see them roam around more often.

Re: Those who give their snakes nightdrops

My snake room is heated with electric oil filled heater. The room is located on the side of the house that gets the sun in the morning and the afternoon. This causes the room to heat up high during the day and cool down at night. My snake room adjust automatically to the outside temps.
