Brown Spots on Mice

Hello,

I'm new to this whole snake owning things but it's kinda awesome so I figured I should join a community. Anyway I've got a 10 month old snow cornsnake and he's eating fuzzy mice right now and I've just got a couple of questions google can't seem to answer.

1. He's really slowed down on the amount he eats. He used to eat very regularly, he would strike at the mouse (always frozen and thawed) and he would eat 2 or 3. Now he eats one mouse every couple weeks and he just kinda looks at it for a while before eating it. Is that normal? He also never really comes out from under his water dish during the day.

2. This one's probably more important, I'm thawing out some mice for him now and I noticed when I took them out of the freezer that they have some brown spots near the stomach. It doesn't look like it's part of the skin, more like it's something brown the mouse was lying on when it died that got frozen onto the body, but I thought I'd check to be sure. Is it safe for him to eat?

Any feedback would be great, thanks guys.
