I remember i first expo, I could'nt sleep either, i was so excited that i started planning and writing down list of animals that iwas going to get.....Unfortunitly i only got 1 Ball python, but i'd rather have got one snake than nothing. Infact i still do that all the time, right now i'm writing a list for venomous snakes to do research on so when i start to get more experienced in reptiles and get my venomous snake training i can start collecting my venomous snakes. Have fun, and trust me your eyes will pop out of your head!

Re: cant sleep

ok here we go.

First due to the long time i have been waiting for him, i present William Snakespear, (i lifted his hide off him to get that shot)

Next i present the handsome Mr Slithers, striped cali king

Third is Checkmate, the normal Cali King

Fourth is my black mexican king snake, Yin (im getting a blue eyed leucistic ball that i will name yang)

And last but not least, known at this time only as Bitey McGrumpy pants. My albinoe tangerine milk snake. (image taken outside the cage for the safety of my fingers...)

The all but the BRB came from the same store so they are all together in quarantine for now, the BRB is in the living room chillin out in his tank.

Re: cant sleep

Wow, nice line-up! They are all beautiful!

Though it's unusual for milk snakes to be grumpy/bitey, in my experience, I do have one that can be bitey and who really does not like to be handled. He's better than he used to be, but I don't let other people handle him "just in case."

Usually, though, regular nonstressful handling (in the sense that it's only you and you're quiet and calm) will help reduce the grumpiness and tendency to bite. Let him chill for a week, then start working with him.

Of course, you probably already know this! Good luck!

Re: cant sleep

Yep, that's why my grouchy one did. He was fine at the herp show, but just freaked when I was trying to put him in the enclosure I had for him. Did the fast strike, hoping I'd drop him so he could escape, then did it again, then latched on like a bulldog and shook his head. I'm pretty stubborn, though, and just looked at him and said, "That's not going to work--I'm not letting go of you until you're in the tank!" When I set him in the tank, he let go immediately so he could "escape) under the hide. He hasn't bitten me in a couple of years, but he still clearly does not want to be handled.

Ah, well, he's pretty anyway!
