"Lizard Kings" & Nat Geo videos

There is the widely discussed and well known PBS version, and the National Geographic version.

Lizard Kings | Nat Geo Wild

NOVA | Lizard Kings

The narration has been re-recorded and the film sequence is different.

You have to keep an eye out for reruns.

Internet TV sites are great, no schedule to be slave to.

Re: "Lizard Kings" & Nat Geo videos

I just got done watching the Nat Geo version, it is essentially the same thing, I don't understand why they scrambled up the sequence and re-narrated it though??

seems like it would have been easier to just leave it alone.

Re: "Lizard Kings" & Nat Geo videos

Probably money/contract reasons. Person who narrated original may have signed a deal for it to be on PBS only, or that he would be paid more if it aired on another network, so they had to re-do it with a new narrator. While they were doing that, the editor may have thought he could make it better and so redid the sequencing.

I listen to Jay Thomas on satellite radio and he's done narration for a couple different shows and he's had similar type things happen. For example, he narrated the first season of Mysteries at the Museum. He got paid a couple hundred thousand dollars for it because he's semi-famous. They didn't hire him for the 2nd season and instead hired someone else for 1/10th of his fee.

Re: "Lizard Kings" & Nat Geo videos

I am familiar with the practice, The Sinatra Family refused to sign off on the DVD versions of "Married with Children" so the familiar "love and marriage" music has all been replaced.

Rendering the DVD different from the broadcast versions.

Re: "Lizard Kings" & Nat Geo videos

There was an episode of some show on Animal Planet about a decade ago that showed a Savannah Monitor eating a scorpion. I remember seeing it on Youtube not too long ago but I am unable to find it currently.
