balls done breeding? <long>

well, i posted earlier about my ball pythons having copulated.
well the thing is that until then they were in a hide box but now for a while they are not. after i removed the hide box i saw them copulate for the first time, i seperated them when they were "done" and put them together agin yesterday. now until a few hours ago, they were curled up together, although no copulatoin was noted. and now the male is off in another corner behind the water dish. even when the hide box was there, after a few days of being together the male would do this. Ther reason im so eager to find out is because this is my first time breeding any reptile other that leos and im only 16, so i have no experience with snake breedings.

:grab:
does this mean that their done copulating?

could the female possibly be gravid?

ps. thanx to all who replied to my last post,
:grab: :w :w

Keep feeding the female and keep putting the male in about once a week or so. If they don't breed within a couple days separate them.....feed them and then give them a rest for a couple days before you put them back in together.

Most females ovulate in March-May.....well, atleast that is when I've only had ovulations in balls. Some people in the USA breed them year round.....although they use a different method of breeding than what I do.

Most females stop eating and breeding anywhere from 3-8 weeks prior to ovulation. However, keep placing the males in with the females until you see ovulation. Some weeks the males won't breed a female and then the next week they are all over them.

Good Luck!
Corey

I personally ussually move the female out of the cage and back in the cage and leave the male undisturbed ..

Is it better to move the male or the female?

I alwasy move the male into the females cage. But, I don't think it would matter if you moved the female into the males cage. The only reason I move the male is because I usually breed my males to multiple females.......so it's just easier for me to bounce the male from cage to cage.

Corey,

Do the balls ovulate after warm up or before when you are breeding them?

I warm everyone up on April 1st. Most have not ovulated at this time. However, if they have they are still subjected to no heat (approximately 68-70F) at night until April 1st.

It all depends on the size of the female. You can expect anywhere from 0-10 eggs from a first year breeding.....however, the average is 4-6.

Good Luck!!
