I have used aspen and bark but the boa trashes it. I dont like newspaper, I've heard that you can use Lino but I was wondering if I could use ceramic tiles????
Not stuck down just placed, I have heard people using this for bearded dragons but not boas

I use tile for my beardie but not my boas. Unfortunately I have found that newspaper works best buy looks horrible. Everything else other than aspen is just too expensive and aspen is a pain. Gets everywhere and I had mites at one time and the aspen was mite heaven. I am looking for cheap rolls of brown paper like for a flower shop or something. Sure wish I could find something new, nicer and better than paper that is still cost effective. Once your snake gets big cost is an issue.
Ok thanks. Well my royal escaped last night so my wife wants them in the shed so paper will be fine. I found her behind the radiator it took about 30 second search. I tried telling her she is harmless all she wanted to do is curl up and sleep. Lol

Snakes spend their lives on the ground or in trees where the substrate provides grip. I believe that snakes are less stressed when the substrate they are on provides a surface they can grip. Paper can be slick but alot of people use old news papers. I use packing cardboard, it is basically a box with one of the smooth sides removed. It comes in 200 foot rolls in which ever width you require. Its very convienent to cut to size and change. Also its relatively inexpensive. I think its like 50 bucks for a 250 foot x 2 ft wide roll which lasts my 5 boas months. I change the substrate when they poop or pee on it. Id put a link to the website i buy it from but I have only gotten 2 rolls every 6 months or so. I have to look it up myself. Google corrugated liner. Uline.com i think thats the supplier i use!
