Happened to stay up later than usual and decided to see what the snakes were up to at 10:30pm . Lights go out at 8pm ,except for 1 nightlight led thats kind of a moonglow yellow/green i leave on 24/7 so i don't trip over anything . i kept the lights off and i have a red LED bar light that i use to watch them some times if they are out.

Sure enough my Hog island male was cruising around , its day 7 of his 10 day mealtime so i'm sure he was looking for rat. I watched him for a good 20 minutes , temps were on nitedrop so it was down to 76 but he was very active , watched him drink and prowl . Finally he saw me and stopped and stared at me for a good 2 minutes , then kept inching towards the sliding glass and sat there. I slid his door open a bit and he pokes his head out , " you has rat? " look with tongue flicking so i reached my hand out so he could get a taste ... but no rat. I kept my hand out and he climbed out for a bit and wrapped on my arm to warm up I'm sure then after 15 minutes i put him back.

While I'm dealing with him , i see movement in the rainbows tub. Now I rarley see him active day or night except for welfare checks or exercise/feeding . he is in a 105 qrt tub , as he is still little yet . He has 3 peices of 6 foot lengths of flukers vine/leaf cover in the tub with cypress and it is very jungle like with lots of cover and and places to climb . So BRB is out cruising , he is due to eat in 3 days also and i had just changed his water after dinner. i got to watch him drink and then coil up in the water for a bit , then he cruised around maybe looking for a fuzzy . i opened his tub and picked him up and let him cruise my hand , he was not nippy at all , very active and calm. Feels good to see them drink which is rare , and im glad they are not so bored and their enclosures keep them busy and happy. I must be doing some thing right !

i was so great to see them in action at night and so rare, pure joy for me and this is why i have snakes .

Get up late , get a red flashlight and go watch your snakes !

I purposefully stay up abit late some nights just so u can watch the snakes cruise around..

my gf laughs at me but I'll still get excited when see my BRB out aswell as they're so secretive.

Being able to do this, in the comfort of your own home and still getting a buzz out of it is one of the privileges of owning these animals

ive only had my snake a few days (got him Monday) and they are fascinating to watch, cruising round drinking and being plain cool! i also like watching my Leopard gecko, crawling round, climbing haha...

My favorite thing so far is when I put my corn snake back in his viv, he goes down and drinks while I am still holding him. Probably coolest thing I have seen with any of them.

What color light bulb can you get that a snake cant see? So they basically still think its night?

I use a LED bar light thats very dim , with some red tape over it thats used to repair a cars red tail light. they can still see the red light but tend to not be as bothered by it as normal bright light . mine is very dim also , maybe 7 watts.

coolest thing I had happen was cinnamon shed in my hands and no I was not peeling her she popped her mouth wide open to start the lips and slithered thru my hand took about 5 min for her to shed to me that was quite a treat usually I just find the shed or here and there peel them when the have a bad shed

Back in the first few months of me having my (at the time only) ball python Valentine, I wasn't aware that they needed such high humidity. I knew it helped shedding but I couldn't quite figure out how to get it right. She wouldn't have very easy sheds some times and there would be a few little pieces that I would help her get off. She never got nippy with me for it so I liked to think she was a bit grateful, though probably upset she couldn't get it all off in the first place. Thankfully, I've solved this problem and haven't had issues for months. I keep their humidity up and when I notice them getting blue I make sure they get even just a bit more humidity.

I love seeing them come out whenever you pour more water for them <3 Valentine always comes out, no matter what, when she notices me pouring fresh water.
