Balls (Stopped Eating)
I have a male ball about 4 yrs old and he has stopped eating suddenly. Its been about 2 months since he has eaten. Ive tried frozen/thawed and live and he shows no interest at all. He lets the rat just walk over the top of him like he dont even know its there. Any suggestions ot tips?

Re: Balls (Stopped Eating)
Wait - check your husbandry - only offer food every 10-14 days
He is a Royal, they go off food for a hobby

Re: Balls (Stopped Eating)
Yep mine will go off food from nov/dec until may (he's only 2yrs old) but this year he went off and hasnt ate yet. They really are a Pain... Its SOOOOO nice to have a snake that is ALWAYS ready to eat though i love my new boas appetite compared to my balls. As long as he isnt loosing drastic weight i wouldnt worry.

Re: Balls (Stopped Eating)
Your balls were eating... hmmmm whats going on there...jk! As for being serious now, your ball can go off feeding for a long time, as long as it doesn't loose alot of weight then you are fine.

Re: Balls (Stopped Eating)
Don't worry about it. Mine went off feed for 4 months recently (January-April) and suddenly resumed eating after that. It's a ball python thing. Just keep offering food every 14 days if you want to conserve some rats (plus he's 4 years old, so every 2 weeks is better anyway). Good luck & don't worry

Re: Balls (Stopped Eating)
IMO, a two-week feeding regimen is maintenance feeding.

Re: Balls (Stopped Eating)
My baby boy did the same thing, one month ago was when he started eating. But he went four months without feeding. I ended up getting a gerbil and trying to feed it to him. He ate it right away! Maybe try that if he still wont eat after a while?
