New Reticulated Python

Hey guys thought I would show you my new addition to the family. Her name is Sprite. She is a Lavender Albino Tiger 50% Dwarf Reticulated Python. I got her on Sunday. I picked her up from Kim aka WillOW783. She is just so sweet and her colors are outstanding! Can't wait to feed her on Thursday. The retic feeding response is awesome! I will have to get better shots of her once she is all settled in. Hope you enjoy!

Re: New Reticulated Python

Just out of curiosity and forgive my lack of knowledge on the species but what is the average size of a dwarf retic? I know normal retics get huge but I've been seeing ALOT about dwarf retics.

Re: New Reticulated Python

Sprite is not a full dwarf but seems to be falling for the "smaller" size. Most dwarfs get up to about 14 - 15 feet, some females can even get to about 16 or 17 feet. Super dwarfs normally stay between 6-8 feet.

Re: New Reticulated Python

Dang! Thats still a pretty big snake! I think I like the super dwarfs lol. My wife and I can't get anything big right now, I have NO experience with anything bigger then a red tail boa and with a one year old who's now learning to be mobile we don't think it's to good of an idea. I'm sticking with colubrids for now. One day I'd love to have a big species tho, maybe one as awesome as your new addition!

Don't let their size fool you, SDs are still very powerful snakes and can be a handful.
Depending on locality dwarf females can be anywhere from 10 feet to 18 feet with half dwarfs being on the larger end due to the mainland genetics.
