New Firey Addition!

Well I made a tough decision the other day but I'm pretty happy with it in the end. I traded my enchi for this fire ball python. I realize this means I don't get any of the babies he may this year, and theres no chance of breeding this little guy in 2012. Truth is my enchi did not do very well at my place, he was pissy, ineager to eat(would eat if I left the rat for him, sometimes...) and quick to strike until he was picked up, then he was a ball... anyway I brought him to work to try acclimating him there before attempting to breed him... well he just took off over there, eating like crazy, much nicer, much less shy, and is growing faster then I've ever seen. Needless to say that was what ultimately made my decision for me, and it I did take a couple months to think about it. Now for what I got....
This is a 2011 Male Fire Ball Python(possible Granite), produced by Raven Reptiles. I fell in love with this guy the minute I cut his egg! Rasing him has been a real treat too, super great snake that just crawls out on your arm when you open his cage(like my female that I also got from Rob..) well enough rambling, here he is!

Slightly different approach at these photo's, no flash just a well lit room. I really liked the results! Practically matching colour. Thanks for looking, ~Caylan.s.~

Re: New Firey Addition!

Just a light coloured normal ball python with a codominant gene, who's homozygous super form is a black eyed leucistic, an all white snake with black eyes. Compare this snake to my others and you can see a difference in colour and pattern as well. This snake may also have a granite gene at play which splays more black markings and speckling. This was displayed in the entire clutch, the normals and the other fire sibling. The father also resembles a fire granite(if they are indeed granite) I'm sure more will be found out this year.

Re: New Firey Addition!

I hate ball morphs cause they all look the same! Argh! Nice snake but when you need a magnifying glass or another animal to distinguish I get really annoyed.

Amazing fire! The granite markings are very interesting, good luck trying to prove it out!

Nice!

Korbin, sometimes the morphs are butler but the combinations they make are more obvious fo some reason. You can also think of fire as het black eyed leucy with a slight visal difference.

Re: New Firey Addition!

If you know ball pythons you can pick the morphs out no problem... no need for a magnifying glass... maybe I just have better eyes then some. I love the morphs that resemble normals with subtle differences, like yellowbellies, fires, spotnoses, enchis, the snakes you claim to all look the same. I like ball pythons regardless of the morphs, and would easily have a collection of different visual NORMALS if thats all they had. Quit hating something just because it comes in a lot of colours, thats dumb... seriosuly buy a normal ball python, let it grow to 4 feet, and enjoy. They are awesome snakes.

Re: New Firey Addition!

Actually I had a black back. I didn't really care for her much. I am honestly getting tired if this whole morph thing. Not just balls but morphs in general. I have four "normal" snakes. I like the just the way they are. The only morphs I actually like are the albino types. I like white snakes( not White Snake) , what can I say. Also how can you look me in the eye and say they are a morph because of minor pattern differences? That's like these stripe tail boa morphs I have noticed lately. Are they actually a morph or not? My morph rant is over so you can go back to looking at this lovely Bo morph.

Re: New Firey Addition!

Well I guess ball pythons aren't for everyone. But if you were to come to my work I could pull out multiple ball pythons with different personalities(hate using this word, but can't think of anything better) and I'm sure I could find one that you would grow attached to somewhat. Theres a pastel at work that I call my boa ball, because she reminds me so much of a boa its ********. There are ones that resemble carpet python traits, and even a couple with more of an arboreal python trait. One of the adult pastels eats like a cobra, head up periscoped, and with her at 5 feet long, she has a decent strike range with this position and feeding her has always been a treat! As for the morph argument, well.... normals are a morph of their very own, the most variable in almost all snakes. You pick the snake you llike the most by its visual ques first, well thats no different then picking out a morph in my opinion. In fact, its harder! Look at carpet pythons, the variance in normals is uncanny, and everyone has a favorite. Subspecies can almost be considered morphs that require a magnifying glass as well, scale counts and head scale patterning. Truth is you love morphs, you just don't like genetic ones in my opinion. I just hope this isn't skewing your opinion on ball pythons in general. Its like me saying I hate cornsnakes because of the number of colours they come in, not because they are flightly little worms that require very little special one on one care.
As for boa morphs, boas do not need morphs! The number of locality boas and variance of normals would keep me occupied for a very long time! In fact, I don;t even like columbian boa morphs, I prefer longicauda, or suriname or argentine boas. Albino boas are ugly in my opinion, lose way to much colour as adults. Coral albino boas however are insane and I would love to have one. Everyone has there tastes, so I guess I should just leave you alone about now lol. I like all snakes is my main problem, so when I see someone not liking one, I try to change their minds... I apologize for this. My rant is over as well...
