Lazy blood
Hi everyone:
Just thought I'd post about one of my male black bloods. He has the sweetest temperament, and loves interaction most of the time.
He is the only snake I own (balls and bloods) that has never struck at food when offered. The only way he will eat is if you place the F/T rat at the entrance of his hide. After a few seconds, his head will poke out, he will sniff the rat from head to toe, then gently and slowly grab the rat by the head and drag the rat into his hide to eat.
My other snakes all strike/coil, he is the only one who takes it easy and calm lol. Nothing wrong with that, just think its funny/cute how gentle he is. He has always been like this from the day I got him as a baby

Yeah I need to buy a new digital camera, my iPhone's camera is horrible IMO. I know nothing about cameras but would like to get a decent one for when I breed down the road and can take quality photos

In this thread we've discussed what cameras some of us on the forum use. Dunno if it'll help you (because it all depends on your budget), but you can check it out if you want

Re: Lazy blood
just shows you how different the individual snakes can be in a species
blood pythons are possibly the hardest hitting snakes i've ever witnessed when they strike
one of the few snakes to have gave me a fright when feeding them
when feeding one of my mates bloods i was away to shout through to him there was something wrong with his blood.
i thought it was about dead as it lay there as i teased it with a rat.i could not even see it breathing,then....
wham this thing hit the rat harder than anything i've ever witnessed
very powerfull snakes
cheers shaun

Re: Lazy blood
He's young though, isn't he? I've raised a couple of Bloods and they often seem to start that way, but the chances are that you'll see that behaviour change quite radically once it gets some size to it. With size comes a little more confidence

That's funny. All these years I've been saying that I find Bloods unlike any other snake, but if I had to choose one they most closely resemble, it's an Anaconda for behaviour

Re: Lazy blood
Yeah I agree, my other bloods hit like trucks and they strike faster than most other snakes I've seen. Yeah, this guy is a youngster, so like you said he may change once older.

My is just like my Bloods. All i have to do is watch his breathing like with my Bloods to tell his mood. He'll breath really heavy and watch me like a hawk if he not in the mood to be messed with just like they do. But when his in a good mood there's no heavy breathing i can reach right in and pick him up. Same as with my Bloods. With both it's all about knowing how to read them.

Re: Lazy blood
Is this one of your black bloods? They are such amazing looking snakes. Really jealous of your collection there. I think as soon as I get my savannah monitor up off the floor I might use the extra room to get a black blood.
