My bit of excitement this morning *sigh*

So this morning the lights turned on and everyone was happy.... for 5 minutes

I went to my vivs to check on everyone and opened my lacerta tank to check my skittish female and that is when all hell broke loose.

My male went mental and started biting my female's tail below her cloaca and i thought I had initiated a food response which is very high in these lizards so after chasing him off of her with a gentle tap to his side, he let her go continued to chase her bit her again and she opened op her mouth and hissed so I taped him again and pulled him out once he was out I dumped about 40 crickets in there and he ate she was a little put off and only ate a few then I thought my problems were over with until I hear more commotion.

I look over and he had grabbed her again and she was thrashing about to get him to let her go so in a panic I screamed for my husband who came in which sent the dog barking and chasing us, I lifted the bullsnake tub too fast which freaked her out I pulled the cage open and got him to release her before she dropped her tail which she has done before while not in my care managed to get him off and onto my husband while I cleaned out a tub which had crickets in, set it up for the bull snake because her tub is bigger, cleaned out that tub so that the male lacerta could cool his heels for a while they have been out of brumation for a week or 2 I know he's trying to mate but she obviously isnt ready and I am not willing to lose my female so for a little while he can stay put now its finding a way to heat him... It shouldnt be a problem since I am picking up a new 50 gal viv tomorrow for now he is over the other tank collecting belly heat

my hands are all cut up from him scratching me and my poor baby bull is even more stressed out *sigh* time to go back to bed...

That is not a good way to start the day. I hope your female is ok and your male calms down. The bull snake will be fine just give him time. I don't blame you for the panic as most people would react the same way. I hope the rest of your day goes smoother

i wouldnt normally stop them from mating but she was fighting him so she obviously isnt ready last time he bit her she didnt fight she just lifted her tail and off they went or she would go up to him and nuzzle him and lift her tail she is half his size so if he wanted to he could kill her its happened with pairs before

I'm sorry for all the commotion you had to deal with this morning... It all sounds so horrible. I would've panicked too. I hope it all settles down soon. best of luck

Well that would not be good at all! I would be scared to put them back together. I hope you can get them to mate but not at the cost of either of them.

Thanks guys its been a rough morning

I will separate them and put them together only to eat if he tries to mate and she doesnt want him to I will pull him out again and keep him separate until they mate once they mate he should be fine last time they mated he didnt bother her again afterwards but they will not be in the same tank when no one is home
