Re: People don't always do the wrong thing...
Some people do good things. I couldn't imagine finding a 14' snake in my back yard!

Very good to see. Most of my friends and co-workers live by the saying "the only good snake is a dead snake". I hate that saying!!!! I leave non-venonmous native snakes in my yard and re-locate the venomous ones.

That is a west Texas thing, I grew up hearing that nonsense when I lived in Baytown. I do agree that it is good the snake was not hurt, but a 14 foot retic is a bad mother trucker, I likely would have squealed like a school girl if I tripped over that in my back yard.

Hear that a lot here in Southeast Texas too. We have a couple of water snakes that get killed a lot because people assume it's a moccasin.
I'm like you though, I hope I never trip over a 14 foot snake in my yard, lol !!! Knowing me though, first thing I'll do is run for the camera and my phone. Get some pictures while calling my husband if he's on duty (police officer) and tell him to get home and bring the entire shift to help you!!

Re: People don't always do the wrong thing...
Kudos for Nathaniel Albright who captured the python instead of killing it, but what about the owner of the snake who either let it to escape or turned it loose? Incidents such as this make reptile keepers look rather irresponsible, IMO.

They do make us look irresponsible. I hope the retic is an escapee and wasnt let loose. Fourteen feet suggests a decent age so hopefully it is a longtime captive and his owner is looking for him.

I like stories with happy endings. Not too often stories with this type of start on the news have them. Thanks for sharing!

Re: People don't always do the wrong thing...
If I found any kind of snake in my backyard that was for the most part probably not wild I would definitely keep it and take care of it I think.. It makes me so sad
