Narrowing it Down!
So i've been researching like crazy because i'm about to get another snake. I've pretty much narrowed it down to a Colombian RTB (there colors are soo attractive and they get nice and big), a yellow anaconda (the strength and taming challenges with these species are ultra attractive), and a Macklott's Python (nice size, love black snakes, relatively easy care). Any of you guys own these species and have stories/advice about them? I love this process of finding your next species Appreciate all future responses!!
Thanks
Bryan

Re: Narrowing it Down!
Taming them is easier then you might think, besides basic hook training, its you who needs to adopt new handling styles and the snake will be fine.

Re: Narrowing it Down!
There are ways of holding snakes where they will not feel threatened.
Annies aren't that bad.

Re: Narrowing it Down!
It's basically the philosophy of not making them feel restrained right? Basically just let them move freely through your hands, and they're cool. Control, but don't restrain them.

Re: Narrowing it Down!
Don't restrain them, and until you build trust don't put them in a position where they can bite you even if they wanted to, if they bite you and you jerk back and hurt them, you could potentially scare them and set yourself back, trust wise.

Check the thread My Yellow Anaconda on here. Plus there are a couple others on here beside me that have Yellow. They're not bad at all really.
Her's my thread. http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/gener...-anaconda.html

Can't go wrong with a boa. Great snakes, nice size.

Re: Narrowing it Down!
tbh, taming down a snake is a challenge no matter what species it is, so i would look at it more along the following lines:
get a snake that suits your needs, im not denying that you need to aquire the snakes needs but its more of the fact of, what needs and requirements do you have and does any species meet them without to much of a mess.
consider what matters to you most; size, temperament, ease of handling and so on and does any of the species named fit all of these, if not which species fits the most.
and finally, what exactly do you want and go for the snake that does exactly what you want.
sorry for the long winded response.
just thought that i will add those 3 points as sometimes, these are overlooked because of the excitement of getting a new snake.
