Just got him this morning...thanks Matt! He hasnt eaten any of the mealies I left for him, looks like I will need to go cricket shopping tomorrow. Love the orange on the tail.
He looks great Edwin!! Congrats on the new addition...
As for the food, I'd give him a few days with the mealies... they often won't eat for a few days, sometimes even weeks, after getting moved to a new home. When he gets hungry, he'll eat 'em Several of my leos had been raised strictly on crickets, but they figured out that mealies were food very quickly...
I feed all my leos (2 lolll) crikets, i keep them in a container with some food and water jelly.
I have heard from many people that feeding only mealies is harmful to your leo cause it iritates the leos stomach. Is this true?
How many leos do you feed per day? cause i feed my leos 10 crikets per 3 days.
How old is that leo Edwin? The orange is nice and the tail is getting good!
He was born on May 25, 2002 and weighs ~49 grams. I just fed him some crickets and a waxworm, and he ate them at once. Guess he just doesnt like mealies.. grrr.
I am totally new to lizards, and everything I know is not first-hand. I believe that many people feed mealies as their leos primary diet, so I guess it is OK.
Mealworms are fine for geckos as thier main food. But you want to feed them crickets once or twice a week to vary their diet. You should also dust their crickets when you feed them. Don't feed him to meny waxworms, they have lots of fat and it's bad for them to have too meny. If you have any other questions just ask!! I haven't kept them as long as some people on here but I should be able to help.

I use all mealworms. I just got some crix because Murtle is on a hunger strike but she wont eat crix either. I find crix to be way more trouble than they are worth. They always hide among the decor before my leos can catch em. I have enough trouble catching em myself. Also the smell a lot worse than mealies in my opinion and die more quickly. I like that I can feed mealworms out of a dish and not have to tweezer feed every one. I raise my own mealworms so they are always well gutloaded and i can always find the white ones that have just shed and are easier to digest. If you do feed all mealies, it's no problem as long as you've got a UTH to help with digestion. I usually just use waxworms once a month for variety.
