Goes to show that even if the snake looks like its going to strike, doesn't mean that it will.
Great picture progression!

It's all out reading your snakes behavior, helps when you have a very docile softy like this one though! I can tell when she's a little more serious (only right after a meal). Her movements are a lot jerkier, and she actually holds her head and neck slightly elevated. I've seen Scarlett's patience tested in several situations, I am confident I can read her pretty well. I've spent a lot of time with her, and completely trust her.
I would definitely warn someone against going about like this with a snake they weren't familiar with...
Thanks!

Great to see someone who can "read" their snakes like that and good for newbies to our hobby to see that being calm even when the snake looks strikey can be the difference. Judgiung from the behaviour of our carpet i would say that if you made a jerky movement around her in that pose she would of had you?

Thanks Rob!
You know, I'm not sure I could get her to strike unless I really wanted to... Not to say I shouldn't be prepared for it. I've had her around my shoulders when a PetCo employee came up behind me and grabbed her by the neck, all she did was squirm to get away... She's never shown an ounce of aggression to me, other than a friendly "nose bump" after a meal, telling me to leave her alone. Quite the snake she is.
